CryptoIn DS2 an upgraded ring was more powerful, but had lower durability and higher equip weight so it wasn't always just an automatic trade-up. Lowers FTH requirement for a miracle by 1, to a minimum of 10. There are a total of 99 Rings in the final version of Dark Souls 2, with seven more currently in the DLC.
